Able Noise é uma dupla intercontinental sediada entre Haia (NL) e Atenas (GR), construída em torno da guitarra barítono experimental e da bateria de George Knegtel e Alex Andropoulos. Após algumas tentativas formativas de colaboração, eles se uniram oficialmente como o Able Noise que vemos agora em 2017, unindo-se em pensamentos compartilhados sobre arte e performance encontrados enquanto estudavam na Royal Academy of Arts em Haia. Seu primeiro trabalho gravado, 30 minutos perfeitos de antiformalismo pós-rock brilhante, surgiu de forma discreta em 2020 como uma fita cassete pelo famoso selo GLARC de Glasgow. Inúmeras turnês pela Europa e aparições em festivais de esquerda levaram a dupla de volta ao estúdio para a gravação do LP de estreia, High Tide, a ser lançado pela World of Echo em 1º de novembro. A mudança para um ambiente de estúdio foi significativa, já que o Able Noise foi concebido principalmente como uma banda ao vivo, pensando e escrevendo especificamente para a experiência de show ao vivo. Considere a prática deles uma espécie de Performance Ativa, uma que busca desafiar entendimentos do meio da arena ao vivo, como suas propriedades e limitações podem ser abordadas criativamente, e a relação dialógica entre o artista e o público. Aqueles que os viram ao vivo terão testemunhado performances muito físicas, mas maleáveis, moldadas a cada vez pelo contexto em questão, seja a hora do dia, as propriedades acústicas do espaço e a energia compartilhada dos clientes reunidos.

Able Noise are a cross-continent duo based between The Hague (NL) and Athens (GR), built around the experimental baritone guitar and drum playing of George Knegtel and Alex Andropoulos. After a few formative attempts at collaboration, they officially came together as the Able Noise we see now in 2017, uniting over shared thoughts on art and performance encountered while studying at The Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Their first recorded work, a seamless 30 minutes of glistening post-rock anti-formalism, emerged in low-key fashion in 2020 as a cassette through Glasgow’s famed GLARC label. Numerous European wide tours and left-of-centre festival appearances led the pair back to the studio for the recording of debut LP, High Tide, to be released via World of Echo on 1st November. 



The shift to a studio environment was a significant one, since Able Noise was primarily conceived as a live band, thinking of and writing for the live concert experience specifically. Consider their practice an Active Performance of sorts, one that seeks to challenge understandings of the medium of the live arena, how its properties and limitations can be addressed creatively, and the dialogical relationship between performer and the audience. Those who have caught them live will have witnessed very physical yet malleable performances, shaped each time by the context at hand, be that the time of day, the acoustic properties of the space, and the shared energy of the assembled patrons.
